Follow these steps in order. At level 1 you must spend one talent point in a class tree, one in a fighting style (weapon craft), and one in the physicality tree — those three spends are not optional.
Creation Steps
Work top to bottom; class choices unlock skills, hit points, and talent trees.
- Roll attributes — 4d6, drop the lowest die, six times. Assign the six totals to STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, and CHA. Or use point buy instead.
- Select a class and background story — Class overview. Background is narrative; class sets hit points, skill points, class skills, and progression.
- Select skills and roll hit points — both are determined by class. See Skills for ranks, caps, and cross-class costs.
- Select a fighting style — Weapon craft (or Channeling, with its own rules).
- Spend talent points — you start with 3. Spend 1 in your class tree, 1 in your fighting style / channeling, and 1 in the physicality tree. Details on Talent Points.
Optional: Point Buy
Instead of rolling — start at 8 in all six scores, spend 27 points. Average score ≈ 12.5.
- Start with 8 in STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, and CHA.
- Spend 27 points to raise scores using the cost table below.
- Rolling instead allows higher (or lower) totals — point buy is consistency.

| 9 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 11 | 3 |
